about

I’m Rebecca, lover of food, cooking and wellness.

The love of cooking is a staple in my family. As many, I was first introduced to the joy of the kitchen from my grandmother, Betty, and my father. When cooking with love, I find that the kitchen is one of the most creative and peaceful places to be!

How my story began

I love cooking for others.

When I was seven, I made my parents a 4-course anniversary meal. The menu featured a salad, chicken piccata, poached pears served with an orange spiral and chocolate covered strawberries. Where I came up with the menu I’m not sure. I was also always creating menus for our family’s fictitious restaurant, Cafe Rean, and typing them out on a typewriter at my grandmother’s house.

Food as medicine: As I have personally dealt with severe allergies and auto-immune issues, I often have turned to food for its healing properties. When not baking less healthy desserts, I often ensure that the food I make is nourishing, anti-inflammatory and filled with nutrients.

Mrs. Count Spatula FAQ

I’m slowly adding recipes across the board. Be patient! I have many healthy, vegan, vegetarian and macrobiotic dishes which I will add to Mrs. Count Spatula shortly!

Most of the time, I favor simple recipes with quality ingredients. Soft scrambled eggs with butter and herbs, a hearty green smoothie or even a pot of homemade chicken soup (with no bouillon or pre-made broths!).
